DESCRIPTION:Join us for The Eclipse\, an unforgettable event held at Cedar Bog Nature Preserve in Urbana\, OH\, USA. Immerse yourself in the wonders of nature as you witness the mesmerizing celestial phenomenon of an eclipse. On April 8\, 2024\, a total solar eclipse will cross North and Central America creating a path of totality. During a total solar eclipse\, the Moon completely blocks the Sun while it passes between the Sun and Earth. The sky will darken as if it were dawn or dusk and those standing in the path of totality may see the Sun’s outer atmosphere (the corona) if weather permits. \nCedar Bog Nature Preserve lies within the full totality range which means we will have around three minutes of totality. DESCRIPTION:The Cedar Bog Nature Center will close for the season starting on November 5th\, 2023. It will reopen in March\, date TBA.\n\n\n\nThe boardwalk will still be open from dawn until dusk during the winter season except as stated below.\n\n\nThe ENTIRE preserve will be closed on the following dates:\nNovember 18-19\nNovember 27-December 3\nDecember 16-17\nJanuary 6-9\, 2024\n*The preserve will close at noon the day before and will reopen at noon the day following the closure.\n\n\n\n\nWe will have a special day in December where we will open the gift shop for holiday gift shopping. Be sure to stay updated as we have yet to set a date for this!

DESCRIPTION:BOO in the BOG will be held Friday and Saturday evenings\, October 13 & 14\, 2023 from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm.\n\n\n\n\nCome join us for this family friendly night walk along our jack-o-lantern lit boardwalk. Volunteer guides will lead visitors through the Bog to learning stations where volunteer naturalists will tell you about some of the creatures that can be found at Cedar Bog. You can enjoy not so scary stories from our storyteller around the bonfire and children’s crafts in the Nature Center. Food and beverages will also be available.\n\n\n\n\nAdmission is $6.00 for adults and $5.00 for students. Children under six are free. OHC and CBA members are $1.00 off.\n\n\n\n\nThis is a very popular event. Reservations are highly recommended. Please call or stop by the Nature Center to reserve your group’s time slot.

DESCRIPTION:Interested in learning about invasive plants? The Ohio Invasive Plants Council (OIPC) will be hosting a workshop on September 12th\, 2023\, entitled “Invasive Plants in Your Backyard” about invasive plants\, their identification\, controls\, and alternatives at the Cedar Bog Nature Center. The event will run from 10 AM – 3 PM. The day will include an overview of invasive plants\, how to control invasive plants\, and alternatives to use in landscaping; restoration efforts at Cedar Bog; land stewardship at the Miami County Park District; lunch\, plant specimens\, handouts\, and a short field trip. Registration is closed but you can still come as a walk-in.
