SUMMARY:Nature Center Closing November 5\, 2023
DESCRIPTION:The Cedar Bog Nature Center will close for the season starting on November 5th\, 2023. It will reopen in March\, date TBA.\n\n\n\nThe boardwalk will still be open from dawn until dusk during the winter season except as stated below.\n\n\nThe ENTIRE preserve will be closed on the following dates:\nNovember 18-19\nNovember 27-December 3\nDecember 16-17\nJanuary 6-9\, 2024\n*The preserve will close at noon the day before and will reopen at noon the day following the closure.\n\n\n\n\nWe will have a special day in December where we will open the gift shop for holiday gift shopping. Be sure to stay updated as we have yet to set a date for this!

SUMMARY:BOO in the BOG
DESCRIPTION:BOO in the BOG will be held Friday and Saturday evenings\, October 13 & 14\, 2023 from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm.\n\n\n\n\nCome join us for this family friendly night walk along our jack-o-lantern lit boardwalk. Volunteer guides will lead visitors through the Bog to learning stations where volunteer naturalists will tell you about some of the creatures that can be found at Cedar Bog. You can enjoy not so scary stories from our storyteller around the bonfire and children’s crafts in the Nature Center. Food and beverages will also be available.\n\n\n\n\nAdmission is $6.00 for adults and $5.00 for students. Children under six are free. OHC and CBA members are $1.00 off.\n\n\n\n\nThis is a very popular event. Reservations are highly recommended. Please call or stop by the Nature Center to reserve your group’s time slot.

DESCRIPTION:The Ohio Geological Survey invites young explorers to join geologists for a day of science and hands-on activities. Participants will learn about Ohio during the Ice Age and the evidence glaciers left behind and will have the opportunity to explore Cedar Bog Nature Preserve.\nThis event is free and open to students in 4th–6th grade. DESCRIPTION:Interested in learning about invasive plants? The Ohio Invasive Plants Council (OIPC) will be hosting a workshop on September 12th\, 2023\, entitled “Invasive Plants in Your Backyard” about invasive plants\, their identification\, controls\, and alternatives at the Cedar Bog Nature Center. The event will run from 10 AM – 3 PM. The day will include an overview of invasive plants\, how to control invasive plants\, and alternatives to use in landscaping; restoration efforts at Cedar Bog; land stewardship at the Miami County Park District; lunch\, plant specimens\, handouts\, and a short field trip. Registration is closed but you can still come as a walk-in.
