Hello everyone! I want to introduce myself. My name is Mike Crackel and I am the new Site Manager for Cedar Bog Nature Preserve. I am a life long resident of Springfield, Ohio and a long time supporter of Cedar Bog. Cedar Bog has been a special place for me ever since my first visits back in the mid 70s on high school field trips with Mr. Dellapina, my high school biology and field ecology teacher. I also consider him my mentor from that time. He seemed to see something more in me and pushed me to excel, and started me down a path of love, wonderment and appreciation for our natural world.
I have been involved with Cedar Bog for several years. I completed the Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist program in 2017 and began helping even more by leading tours at the Bog and helping at community events. I am not a scientist, so please be patient with me as I learn more about this wonderful gift we have called Cedar Bog. I am here to learn also and appreciate everyone’s help and guidance.
Thank you for everyone’s patience during this time of transition. I am thrilled to have this opportunity to be a part of this wonderful and unique organization and hope to see you soon.
